FAQ
Questions, answered.
Answers to the most common questions about Oravian: how it works, languages and Arabic support, integrations, security and HIPAA posture, outbound, conversation intelligence, and getting started.
What is Oravian?
Oravian is an AI voice agent and conversation-intelligence platform that answers your inbound calls and web chats in real time, 24/7. It holds natural, interruptible conversations grounded in your own knowledge base, and can act mid-call to book appointments, qualify leads, route callers, and capture requests. It also analyzes every conversation so you can see what your callers actually need. Oravian is built by Team Medoment, an established healthcare-technology company.
How is Oravian different from a normal IVR or phone menu?
A traditional IVR forces callers down rigid "press 1, press 2" menus that frustrate people and rarely resolve anything. Oravian just listens and talks like a person. Callers say what they need in their own words and get a real answer. Instead of a dead-end menu, it can complete the task on the call or hand off to the right human when that's the better path.
Does it sound robotic, and can callers interrupt it?
It sounds natural and conversational, not like a scripted phone tree. Callers can interrupt it at any point, and the agent stops, listens, and adapts mid-sentence, just like a good receptionist would. This barge-in ability means people never have to wait through a long menu to say what they actually want.
What languages does Oravian support, and is Arabic really native?
Oravian is multilingual on a single line (one phone number, many languages). Arabic is native, alongside English, Spanish, French, and more, and the agent can move between languages naturally within a conversation. It also corrects proper names and clinical or technical terms in real time so callers are understood accurately.
Can I keep my existing phone number?
Yes. Oravian works over your own telephony using a bring-your-own-carrier model via SIP, so you keep your existing numbers and provider, no porting required. You stay in control of your phone infrastructure while Oravian answers on top of it.
Does Oravian integrate with my EMR or CRM?
Oravian connects to systems like Epic, Cerner, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, Twilio, and Google Calendar through open standards like REST/JSON, HL7 v2, and secure webhooks. These connections are set up and scoped per integration during onboarding. There's no certified or one-click plug-in. That approach keeps each integration deliberate, permissioned, and matched to your workflow.
Is my data secure, and where does it live?
Transcripts are encrypted, every action is written to an append-only audit trail, and each organization's data is fully isolated with role-based access control. You choose the deployment model (our cloud, a dedicated environment, or your own cloud) so you can meet data-residency requirements. Access to any integration is scoped narrowly during onboarding rather than granted broadly.
Is Oravian HIPAA-compliant?
We describe Oravian as HIPAA-conscious rather than "certified." No software is HIPAA-certified, and we won't claim a blanket certification. For healthcare customers we make a signed BAA available and gate PHI handling behind it, with encrypted transcripts, per-organization isolation, and audit logging. We're happy to walk your compliance team through exactly how data is handled.
Will Oravian replace my staff?
No. It's designed to take the front line off your team's plate, not the people. Oravian handles the repetitive, high-volume, and after-hours calls so your staff can focus on the work that needs a human. When a conversation calls for a person, it captures the context and hands off to the right individual or number.
How does Oravian handle emergencies in a healthcare setting?
Oravian is grounded in your own protocols, so it recognizes urgent situations and follows the escalation path you define, directing callers to emergency services or the appropriate human contact without delay. It does not attempt to manage clinical emergencies itself. You set the rules for what counts as urgent and where those calls go.
Can Oravian make outbound calls?
Yes. Oravian handles outbound tasks like appointment reminders, follow-ups, recalls, surveys, and win-back outreach, and it respects opt-in preferences by design. Single-call outbound is live today, and broader campaign capabilities are being rolled out. You decide who gets contacted, why, and within what boundaries.
What is the conversation-intelligence layer?
It's the analytics engine that reviews every conversation instead of a small sample. It surfaces QA scores, missed demand, at-risk callers, and the questions people ask most often, turning your calls into a clear picture of what customers actually want. During rollout you receive this as regular readouts, so patterns show up as insight rather than noise.
Can it analyze my human agents' calls too?
Yes. The conversation-intelligence layer works across any source, so it analyzes calls handled by your human team, not just the AI. That means you can score quality, spot coaching opportunities, and catch missed demand across your entire front line. You get one consistent lens over every conversation, however it was answered.
How much does Oravian cost, and how fast can I go live?
Pricing is tailored to your call volumes, languages, integrations, and deployment model, so the right way to get accurate numbers is to book a demo and talk to the team. Most customers go live in days, not months, because Oravian sits on top of your existing phone numbers and is grounded in your own knowledge base. Cost is itemized per conversation, so you can see exactly what each interaction costs.
